Special Olympics Champ to Barack: Bring it On!
Posted Mar 20th 2009 9:57AM by TMZ Staff

Kolan McConiughey, a Special Olympics competitor who has bowled three perfect 300 games, tells TMZ that the Prez has to score a lot higher than 129 to beat him. Kolan says he bowls an average of 266.

Kolan — who works at a grocery store in Ann Arbor, Mich. — said he’d love to go to the White House to beat Barack on his own lane. Kolan said, “He’s cool, but he can’t beat me.”

We posed the challenge to the White House. They said “no comment.”

Palin Hits Obama on ‘Special Olympics’ Joke
National Review

‘Gov. Sarah Palin responded to remarks made last night by President Obama related to the Special Olympics on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”:

“I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics,” Governor Palin said. “This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world.

“These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them. I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.”

Well, after the way his allies went after her, he really couldn’t count on a full-throated defense of a boneheaded comment. Obama used the whole “it’s just a joke” excuse with his “lipstick on a pig” comment, too.’

Maria Shriver: Obama Special Olympics ‘joke’ hurts
AP Mar 20 02:10 PM US/Eastern

“SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Maria Shriver says President Barack Obama’s joke comparing his poor bowling score to that of a Special Olympics athlete was hurtful, although she is sure he didn’t mean it that way.

California’s first lady issued a statement Friday, a day after the president made the gaffe on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Obama later called Maria’s brother, Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver, to apologize.

The siblings’ mother, Eunice Kennedy-Shriver, founded the Special Olympics and has championed the rights of the mentally disabled.

Maria Shriver says the reaction to Obama’s joke shows there is still more work to do. She says laughing at such comments “hurts millions of people throughout the world.”

Shriver, a Democrat, supported Obama’s presidential campaign.”

Special Olympics comment, a lack of class Mr President

This was an extremely insensitive comment. How will the media play this? How would the media and the Clintonistas play this, if George Bush made this stupid comment?

***************************Apparently there was a gaffe with that teleprompter and our President, during the St. Patrick Day Festivities! I do hope the President is getting enough rest…

Obama In St Patrick’s Day Teleprompt Blunder
Sky News

Wednesday March 18, 2009

“A teleprompt blunder has led to Barack Obama thanking himself in a speech at the White House in a St Patrick’s Day celebration.

Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address in Washington when he realised it all sounded a bit too familiar.

It was. He was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just read from the same teleprompter.

Mr Cowen stopped, turned to the president and said: “That’s your speech.”

A laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium to take over but it seems the script had finally been switched and the US president ended up thanking himself for inviting everyone to the party.

Mr Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the “teleprompt president” over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech.”

John Romano at Big Hollywood comments:

“…I’ve been searching for the video of Obama accidentally reading Irish PM Brian Cowen’s speech yesterday…It will come out, but this is amazing…Update: 10:30 am PST: Still no video released. This is the third Obama gaffe with no video. First the wrong door incident at the White House, then the helicopter head bump and now this.”

It’s Thursday:two days after the President’s speech – where’s the video?I did see a video from CNN of Obama making his speech on St. Patrick’s Day – but without the gaffe. Without the gaffe!

Are we talking missing video here? Are we talking cover up? (Please understand I am using sarcasm here – liberals, please get a sense of humor). Let me think…if George Bush read the wrong speech on a teleprompter, and thanked himself for inviting himself…

This isn’t the first time. Remember three other gaffes that also have missing video:

UPDATE! 3/21

I found the video when the President hit his head while entering a helicopter. Again, not because there is enjoyment in someone hitting his head (he didn’t hurt himself), but to prove a point: if it was George Bush, everybody would have seen it.

Do these pictures look familiar? You may or may not have seen these pictures – which of course are funny. But imagine if you could see the actual video of the events, and the network media making those pictures come alive. Imagine if all the gaffes by Obama, were hammered in the media as they did to George Bush – Obama’s persona would change overnight.

But there is an other issue. Liberals have a hard time discussing actual ideas, and facts that accompany them. This puts them at a decided disadvantage, so they must do the next best thing: attack the messenger and use ridicule.

This is what the network media, the lefties in the blogosphere, night time guys, and liberal funny people have done to George Bush for eight years. This has been so pervasive, that it has formed the thinking of a generation of young people.

If we are to compete in the arena of ideas, we must compete in the entertainment culture. And since we must compete, the playing field should be fair – release the videos!

  1. I’ve also been searching for video, interesting….nothing out there,

President Obama is to leadership as Milli Vanilli is to music.

  2. It was a Freudian slip, he indeed thanks himself every hour on the hour under his breath. What gets me is the gushing leftist press still tries to say what a great speaker he is in spite of the need for a script for every event. I want to see the video as well!

  3. I’m sure it’s a vast left wing conspiracy involving the Illuminati and the corpse of Lenin to hide any video of Obama making a mistake.

    Yeah, that must be it.

    • Hey James!

Thanks for giving an example of ridicule: I mentioned this in the blog – what would you guys do without it? And please understand the use of sarcasm when I used the term, cover up – you guys need a sense of humor.

You also have to understand – we want to join in the fun like you guys did for the last eight years. And Obama is making it so easy!

    • No more like the propaganda arm of the hard left continuing its love-fest and PR campaign.

  4. The angrier you get with Obama, the more I like him.

  5. Since they must be missing Bush to mock, we need to help Democrats find their “inner child” to laugh at Obama’s very human side. 57 states, redistribution of wealth, economic foundation is sound …ah, good times!

Hope and change doesn’t mean humorless and perfect, guys. And it doesn’t mean snatching away or hiding anything that could be used as a legitimate tool for late-night comedy talk shows. I love Obama’s human side to err on occasion – why don’t Democrats? They sure did love it when it was Bush bumping his head on something. Or just for grins, making up whatever fanciful, outrageous lie they could about Sarah Palin. Like I said, good times!

  6. Keep that leprechaun hat off the damn teleprompter it blocks the words

  7. At least President Obama’s gaffes didn’t result in the death of 4000 + Americans and over 150,000 Iraqi civilian deaths.

    • I am not sure what your comment has anything to do with Obama’s actions. This is classic redirection – instead of dealing with the issue at hand, an avoidance tactic is used to steer away from an embarrassing situation.

Remember that our troops removed a dictator that committed genocide against his own people.

Also, Obama approved an air strike against Pakistan, and will escalate troops in Afghanistan. He will also leave a force of 35k to 50k troops in Iraq.

Now back to the subject at hand: thus hasn’t been a good week for the President, has it?

  9. I found it refreshing that Maria Shriver, of the Kennedy dynasty, also was put off by Obama’s stupid crack. It offers hope that not all Democrats will blindly follow Obama in all circumstances. Even Republicans didn’t agree with Bush on all counts, and of course, Democrats NEVER did for 8 solid, verbally abusive years (it was always OK to label Bush a Nazi, a fascist, a murderer, a terrorist… but don’t you dare say that Obama isn’t perfection). It is nearly sacrilegious for liberals to not nod like a bobble-head doll whenever the POTUS speaks. Thumbs up to Maria for using her brain instead of her party affiliation to give a critique.
