GOP congressman introduces birth certificate bill

Whether President Obama is an American citizen or not, what’s troubling is the fact that he has never sought to prove that he is. There were rumblings early in the presidential campaign, that questioned McCain’s eligibility – because of his birth on a military base in Panama. He promptly provided documentation, dispelling doubts immediately.

But not Obama. Why? It does make one wonder, and the whole thing causes suspicion. He could erase this issue today. Why the continued silence?

Could you imagine, if John McCain responded in the same manner as Obama?

Freshman Republican Rep. Bill Posey of Florida has introduced a bill aimed at quelling persistent Internet rumors from the right-wing base of the GOP about President Obama’s citizenship.

“Opponents of President Obama are raising the birth certificate issue as a means of questioning his eligibility to serve as president,” Posey said in a statement. “This bill, by simply requiring such documentation for future candidates for president, will remove this issue as a reason for questioning the legitimacy of a candidate elected as president.”

Several right-leaning outlets, such as WorldNetDaily and Newsmax, repeatedly have questioned Obama’s citizenship. Posey’s bill, H.R. 1503, would “require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of president to include with the committee’s statement of organization a copy of the candidate’s birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution.”

WND has chronicled several legal challenges filed by those who believe Obama may not be eligible under the Constitution to be president. Obama’s supporters have dismissed them as “garbage.”

Last year, while these allegations were in full force, several outlets, including the Los Angeles Times and the Daily Kos, reprinted a copy of Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate to quiet allegations regarding Obama’s citizenship.

  1. The birth certificate issue is actually obscuring the real issue regarding Barack Obama’s natural born citizen status. His father was a British Subject at the time of his birth. Barack Obama was a British Subject at the time of his birth through inheritance of his father. Many argue that both parents must be U.S. Citizens at the time of the child’s birth for the child to be a natural born citizen. Mr. Obama’s parents were not, therefore, Barack Obama was a U.S. native citizen with dual citizenship at birth and was not a natural born citizen. He is presently usurping the Office of the Presidency. To focus on the birth certificate issue takes away from the real issue at hand.

To learn more regarding this matter there are many blogs that discuss the issue including but not limited to:

    • if you are born in the USA…you are a citizen.
your ‘logic’ about Obama taking the citizenship of the father is flawed, incorrect.

by the way, his mother was a US citizen and at the timeof his birth there was no dual US citizenship.

  2. Let me correct that last paragraph. A copy of Obama’s ‘Certification of Live Birth’ was made available. Not only will Hawaii issue a Certification of Live Birth to anyone from any country or state, it is a document that is generated on command and whose generation can legally be altered after birth in a number of situations, such as adoption (to legally conceal the true birth parents as per their wishes). The Certification of Live Birth of itself does not prove that Obama is a natural born citizen.
Hawaii does claim to have Obama’s actual long form birth certificate on file but has never attested to what it contains or whether the generation of his Certification of Live Birth has been altered.

  3. The issue of his birth certificate is irrelevent. He spent several years in indonisa at about 5 years old, He returned to america on his mothers passport(totally legal if he is an american citizen).
If his father got him citizenship in indonisa and denounced his american citizenship then he is an illegal alien. We need to see his citizenship papers.

    • You are wrong.
it matters not where he is living but where he was born and that his citizenship was not changed, which it was not.

Just because you dislike the man, the policies…it is not right to be so foolish and ignorant.

get a life, go forward, learn something and place your anger aside for your own good.
